GEOMYTHOLOGY

In Seven Formations

By Suzanne Bybee & Lisa DeFrance of Fern & Reed

April 26-May 3 at Books & Supply, 252 East 100 South, Salt Lake City

Using mud dye and natural pigments on vintage and hand-dyed textiles, we explore the intersection of earth materials and mythic narratives—where geology meets story. Fern & Reed invite you to a week of performances and conversation in a curated environment.

Daily formations Monday through Friday 6:00-7:00 pm and Saturday at 4:00-5:00 pm. On Sunday, May 3, we gather in the final formation for celebration and conversation with all of the artists, 4:00-7:00pm.

Fern & Reed is an art and design collaboration between long-time friends, Suzanne Bybee and Lisa DeFrance. They met in the music soaked Seattle of the 90’s where Suzanne was painting and working in galleries and Lisa was sewing, costuming, and creating performance art.  Our design process focuses on holding space for unanticipated convergences that our individual lives naturally bring to the table.

Chaz Prymek is a composer, improviser, sound artist and curator based in Salt Lake City. Most widely known for his work as member of Fuubutsushi, Lake Mary and curator of Yardwork Presents. Prymek uses sound as material to create a unique sonic environment for each performance.

Fern Ann is a fourth year photography and creative writing student at Seattle University. Her work confronts time, temporality, memory, and lack there of.

Duncan Hilton is an aging punk-rocker from the eighties. He published an art and literary zine called Paper-Toadstool for years, and was heavily involved with City-Art, a public poetry reading series, for close to 9 years. The primary reason he write’s is to mark the passage of time…

Jean LaSarre is a retired dance educator who seeks connections with life, people, and the planet through creative and expressive arts.

Esperanza Cordero Pacejka has been singing all her life. If she isn't singing arias, madrigals or art songs, she is pouring her heart into her songwriting.
